About
I’m a writer, editor, reviewer, bassist, and general media junkie, who was born and raised in western New York and gradually migrated west to Los Angeles after a long stay in Iowa City. I love science fiction, music, hockey, movies, spy fiction, coffee, video games, good friends, and far too many television shows.

WRITING
I started reading and writing fiction in my early teens and have been pursuing a writing career, more or less, ever since. My main genre of focus has long been science fiction, but I also have considerable interest in fantasy, horror, and especially spy fiction. After high school I cobbled together a special studies writing degree from New York University, SUNY at Fredonia, and Michigan State University — the latter for credits from the Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writer’s Workshop, which I attended in 1994. My first short story was published in 1998, and I’ve since sold to a number of markets in the SF and fantasy genres, including Interzone, Talebones, and The Third Alternative. In the early 2000s I was an active short fiction reviewer for Tangent Online, and since 2004 I’ve been a fiction editor (and very occasional blogger) at Futurismic. I’m currently working, slowly, on a novel, and experimenting with television scripts in my spare time.
